BEND, Ore. -- No. 20 Sonoma State took to the road this past weekend and walked away with a pair of wins over No. 11 Oregon State, 10-8, and Idaho, 15-0. After dropping games to Chapman and UC Santa Barbara, this was a big weekend for the Wolves.

On Saturday, Sonoma opened against Oregon State. The game started with a goal from the Beavers, but for the next 35 minutes it would be all Noma. The scoring was opened with a hat trick from senior attackman Brad Bochesa.

The first quarter scoring would end with eight seconds remaining after junior Tyler Yamamoto scored a goal on an unsettled situation. Going into the second quarter, it was a lot more Seawolves, with them dominating time of possession and ripping off two more goals to go into half with a 6-2 lead.

Sonoma would open the third quarter scoring with a goal from freshman Angelo Lagomarsino. However, the Beavers were not ready to quit yet and came storming back, going on a 5-0 run to narrow the margin to 8-7 with 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Sonoma would stop the bleeding with a rip from Yamamoto.

The offense continued to possess while the defense allowed just one more goal as Lagomarsino got the final tally of the night to seal the game for the Seawolves.

After the big win on Saturday, Sonoma departed for Bend, Ore., to battle the Vandals.

The game started amid tough weather conditions with a slight hail coming down and gusting winds on the field. The Seawolves were not impeded by the weather, however, as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter.

Somona continued to put balls in the back of the net, but were really led by the play of the defense and goalie Zach Thomson coupled with great faceoff play from Cooper Urbany and Jose Morales. The Seawolves would get a steady diet of shots, pulling off the shutout.

"This was a strong weekend for the team." said Sonoma coach Panchito Ojeda. "We had dropped two games in uncharacteristic fashion the previous weeks, but bounced back to show the fabric this team is made of. I'm especially impressed with the goalie play from senior Zach Thomson. Anchoring the defense like that will make our team very dangerous."

Sonoma State heads back home with a record of 4-2 and will host No. 10 Colorado State on Tuesday, March 15.
