SELC Tournament Field Announced

ATLANTA – The brackets have been set for both divisions of the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference (SELC) tournaments and the action will begin with the quarterfinals this Friday at Johns Creek, Ga.

The semifinals and finals will follow on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, also at Johns Creek, with the two champions receiving automatic bids to the 2016 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour. The national event will take place from May 9-14 in Orange County, Calif.

This year’s SELC tournament has a format that has the Southwest and Southeast divisions matching up in the quarterfinals along with the Northwest and Northeast divisions squaring off. All of the quarterfinal matchups are listed below.

In Division I, No. 2 Georgia Tech is the favorite, although defending champion Virginia Tech is in the field along with the ever-dangerous Liberty. On the Division II side, No. 4 Kennesaw State looks like the team to beat, but Palm Beach Atlantic is lurking.

Friday, April 22 – Quarterfinals – at Johns Creek, Ga.
Division I
Game 1: #1SW Georgia Tech vs. #2SE Central Florida, 8 p.m.
Game 2: #1NW Liberty vs. #2NE South Carolina, 8 p.m.
Game 3: #1SE Florida vs. #2SW Georgia, 8 p.m.
Game 4: #1NE NC State vs. #2NW Virginia Tech, 8 p.m.

Division II
Game 1: #1SW Kennesaw State vs. #2SE Florida Gulf Coast, 5:30 p.m.
Game 2: #1NW Appalachian State vs. #2NE College of Charleston, 5:30 p.m.
Game 3: #1SE Palm Beach Atlantic vs. #2SW Reinhardt, 5:30 p.m.
Game 4: #1NE The Citadel vs. #2NW Wake Forest, 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 23 – Semifinals – at Johns Creek, Ga.
Division I
Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner, 5 p.m.
Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 winner, 7:30 p.m.
Division II
Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner, 3 p.m.
Game 3 winner vs. Game 4 winner, 12 p.m.

Sunday, April 24 – Finals – at Johns Creek, Ga.
Division I
Semifinal winners, 3 p.m.
Division II
Semifinal winners, 12 p.m.
