Fairey Named MCLA D-II Player of Year

May 26th, 2016 General News | Montana State

ATLANTA – He backstopped Montana State to their only undefeated conference championship along with just its second trip to the MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour and for his efforts, senior goalie Parker Fairey has been named the MCLA Division II Player of the Year, which was announced on Thursday.

Fairey finished with a 64.0 save percentage for the season, allowing double digits in goals just four times during the regular season while eight times posting at least 12 saves in a game. In the championship game of the RMLC tournament, Fairey made 14 stops in a 10-3 victory over Metro State and entered the tournament with a 15-0 mark.

In the Bobcats’ only loss of the season – a 15-12 setback to Concordia-Irvine at nationals – Fairey made 22 saves, which is the fourth most in Division II tournament history.

“Parker is one of those players you love to have on your team and hate to see in the crease on the other side,” said Montana State coach Chris Kelley. “He’s a game-changer and we were really fortunate to have him. He really stepped up as a leader on and off the field because he’s is able to walk the walk and talk the talk. He is a tremendous athlete and we were blessed to have him come through our program.”

Fairey was a four-year starter for the Bobcats, leading Montana State to its only two appearances at the national championships. The Morristown, N.J., native was first team All-RMLC and first team All-American this spring.
