UCSB To Induct Two into HoF

UCSB To Induct Two into HoF

August 30th, 2016 General News | UC Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA -- Former Gaucho standouts Ben Schooler '03 and Hank Caulkins '04 will be inducted into the UC Santa Barbara men's lacrosse Hall of Fame in the Class of 2016 in a ceremony that will take place on Saturday, Nov. 11 as part of alumni weekend.

The induction of Schooler and Caulkins will be part of a weekend that includes a full-length fall ball scrimmage against defending MCLA Division I champion Chapman, which will take place on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m.

Schooler, who played his prep career at Berkeley (Calif.) High, was a four-year starter for UCSB from 1999-03, a four-time all-WCLL selection and a two-time MCLA All-American. He helped the Gauchos reach the MCLA National Championships three times, including a runner-up finish in 2003. Schooler leads all UCSB middies in scoring with 170 points (93g, 77a) and was named to the program's all-decade team.

Caulkins, who led St. Ignatius (Calif.) to a pair of state championships in high school before joining the Gauchos from 2000-04, was a three-time all-conference pick and a three-time MCLA All-American. He led UCSB to the MCLA national championship in 2004 and was chosen for the all-tournament team three times. Caulkins is currently second on the program's all-time scoring list with 221 points (155g, 66a) and was a member of the all-decade squad.

“One of the strengths of the UCSB program is the foundation that our former players have built. Ben and Hank are two guys who played a large part in our program’s success," said UCSB coach Mike Allan. "I'm excited to see both of them inducted into our prestigious Hall of Fame and I look forward to a special weekend for the UCSB lacrosse family.”

The evening before the induction of Schooler and Caulkins, the current Gaucho squad will battle Chapman as part of the annual Faceoff Against Leukemia in UCSB's Harder Stadium.
