CU’s Snell Grabs Top Performance

CU’s Snell Grabs Top Performance

March 21st, 2017 General News | Colorado | Dominican | Georgia Tech | Michigan State | Sonoma State

ATLANTA – Anchoring the Buffaloes to a pair of wins to push their winning streak to six games, Colorado senior defensive midfielder Jay Snell has earned MCLA Division I Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending March 19.

In Thursday’s win over a dogged New Hampshire squad, Snell locked down one of the top Wildcats offensive middies while also striking for a goal of his own.

On Sunday, the Buffs entertained defending national champion and No. 10 Chapman – which was fresh off a win over No. 8 Colorado State on Friday – and Snell was once again the tip of the spear as CU subdued the Panthers, 17-15.

The Toledo, Ohio, product had three ground balls while continuing his premium defensive assignments as Colorado improved to 7-2.

“Jay provides a presence on the defensive side of the field and brings great hustle between the lines,” said Colorado coach John Galvin.

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Snell will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.

Under Armour Honor Roll

Brett Braun, Jr. – Michigan State
Pittsburgh entered Sunday’s game with Michigan State with an undefeated record and a lot of momentum, but Braun helped end that with five goals and two assists against the Panthers.

Spencer Castonguay, Sr. – Sonoma State
The Seawolves capped off their 3-0 East Coast road swing with a gritty, 9-8 win over a powerful No. 24 Liberty outfit helped by five ground balls and strong defensive work by Castonguay.

Griffin Goggans, Fr. – Georgia Tech
The top-ranked Wreck went down to Tallahassee and walked away with a key win over the No. 7 Seminoles thanks to a trick and a dime from the cagey frosh.

Jack Gross, Jr. – Dominican
The Penguins picked up a key WCLL victory when it took down Nevada in San Rafael, and Gross was the big dog with three goals and five helpers in the Pangs’ 16-8 triumph.
