DATLANTA – After leading the Dayton defense to three lockdown performances against ranked teams, Flyers senior defenseman Joe Huber has earned the MCLA Division II Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending March 12.

Facing off with No. 7 Kennesaw State, No. 13 Palm Beach Atlantic and No. 19 Florida Gulf Coast in Knoxville, Tenn., Huber and the Flyers allowed an average of just 4.33 goals per game.

Individually, the Pittsburgh product finished the week with nine caused turnovers and 13 ground balls going up against the opposition’s top offensive players.

“Joe is effective on the ball, but he really is the leader of the defense,” said Dayton coach Joe Venturella. “He communicates very well and sets the tone for the entire unit.”

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Huber will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.

Under Armour Honor Roll

Dennis Bell, Jr. – Kennesaw State
Bell struck for a hat trick against No. 9 Grove City, helping the Owls post an impressive, 8-5 victory. He also accounted for half the KSU goals in a 10-4 setback to Dayton.

Tate Brumsickle, Sr. – Western Washington
The Vikings picked up a key win over No. 16 Southern Oregon and Brumsickle factored in on over half the goals in a 17-12 win. He netted five goals and assisted on four others.

Isaac Mier, Jr. – UC Santa Cruz
The Banana Slugs keep churning along, helped by the attack play of Mier. He buried five goals and dished out two assists in a win over No. 15 Northern Arizona, adding five markers against Marymount.

Joey Seiler, Sr. – Grand Valley State
The Lakers held three ranked teams to an average of 5.3 goals per game and Seiler played a huge role in that from his close defender spot. He was credited with six ground balls against Florida Gulf Coast.
