ATLANTA – Florida Gulf Coast won three games in three days to win the SELC title prolong its postseason dreams thanks to the play of junior attackman Jordan Briggs, who earned MCLA Division II Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Amour for the period ending April 23.

The grueling nature of SELC tournament means winning three games in a 36-hour span, and the Naples, Fla., product made sure it happened for the Eagles.

In the quarterfinals against No. 23 Appalachian State on Friday night, he buried four goals and dished out assist and followed that up with five goals and a dime against Columbus State. In the championship game against No. 10 Kennesaw State, Briggs scored a goal and set up three others to punch FGCU’s ticket to nationals.

For the weekend, Briggs scored 10 goals and handed out five assists for the 15-point excursion.

“In the title game against Kennesaw he kept their defense on their toes with multiple great looks,” said Florida Gulf Coast coach Michael Dubbelde. “Despite only having four points, it was his feet and hustle that proved more valuable than ever to maintain long and consistent positions in sloppy conditions.”

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Briggs will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.

Under Armour Honor Roll

Peter Awalt, Jr. – San Diego
With two of the top three scorers on the shelf for the Toreros, Awalt stepped into a playmaker position he was unfamiliar with, scoring twice and setting up three other goals as USD advanced to the SLC semis.

Spencer Pregal, Jr. – Southern Oregon
The Raiders wrapped up the second seed in the PNCLL South division thanks to four goals and five assists from Pregal.

Ben Tanguay, Sr. – Central Conn. State
The Blue Devils snagged one of the two top seeds in the PCLL tournament and a bye into the semifinals with a win over New Haven and Bridgeport. The attackman had six goals and five assists in the two wins.

Sam White, Soph. – Dayton
The Pittsburgh native netted a hat trick and added an assist in the Flyers’ 11-5 win over Grove City, sending Dayton to the championship game of the CCLA championship.
