Saturday's Scores: Rivalries Galore

Saturday's Scores: Rivalries Galore

April 15th, 2017 General News | Arizona | Arizona State

It was a solid Friday of action that saw some rivalry feuds settled and some conference tournament clarified, but today, Saturday, April 15, should be more entertaining.

There are 24 games on the Division schedule/scores page for today.

In Berkeley, No. 5 Cal Poly stunned top-ranked Cal, 13-10, to take control of the WCLL and likely give us a new No. 1.

No. 4 Colorado assured themselves they will be wearing their home whites when they face No. 10 Colorado State again in the RMLC semis by downing the Rams today.

No. 9 Chapman welcomes No. 14 UC Santa Barbara to Orange for a game that will determine the top seed out of the SLC North. It is also the SLC Game of the Week (see below: paywall).

Keep an eye on key rivalry games such as:

  • No. 3 Georgia Tech d. Georgia, 16-11
  • No. 8 Arizona State d. Arizona, 14-6
  • Indiana d. Purdue, 9-7
  • Auburn d. Alabama, 7-6

Texas gave No. 6 Brigham Young everything the Cougars could handle, but BYU managed to strike in overtime to take a 10-9 victory. Still a great primer for the 'Horns heading into LSA play.

Across the border, Simon Fraser took down No. 13 Oregon State, 9-4, for the Clans second win over a ranked opponent in as many weeks.

No. 12 Virginia Tech won a three-overtime thriller for the crown in the SELC Northwest.

Sonoma beat Stanford in WCLL action.

On the Division II side, there are 21 games on the schedule/scores docket.

No. 16 Metro State took down No. 12 Montana State, 15-11 in a replay of last year's RMLC championships game, and what could be a preview of this year's title tilt. Makes Great Falls win yesterday over the Roadrunners that much more impressive.

No. 17 College of Idaho wrapped up the top seed in the PNCLL South with a comfy, 17-8 win over Western Oregon.

No. 5 Sierra Nevada took down No. 18 UC Santa Cruz to assure the Eagles they will have the top seed in the WCLL tourney.

In inter-divisional action, Minnesota downed St. Thomas.
