KSU’s Hanson Drafted by Blaze

KSU’s Hanson Drafted by Blaze

May 31st, 2017 General News | Kennesaw State

ATLANTA – Connor Hanson, a three-time All-American goalie for Kennesaw State, has been drafted by the Atlanta Blaze of Major League Lacrosse. The MLL draft took place on Sunday, May 28 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass, in conjunction with the NCAA Championships.

The Blaze took Hanson in the 10th round with the 83rd overall pick. The Kennesaw, Ga., native joins an Atlanta draft class that includes players from Ohio State, Notre Dame, Denver, Albany and North Carolina.

Over his four-year career with the Owls, Hanson helped Kennesaw State post a 48-17 record along with three trips to the SouthEastern Lacrosse Conference finals and two invitations to the MCLA Division II National Championships.

Hanson made 978 saves over the course of his career along with a 64.3 save percentage. He was a three-time all-conference pick, earning Co-Defensive Player of the Year kudos after the 2016 season in which the Owls advanced to the national quarterfinals.

“When Connor stepped on campus his freshman year, we knew we had something special and that he would lead this program to the next level,” said Kennesaw State coach Tyler Yelken. “In his four years on campus, KSU was ranked every week in the Top 15 and he was a major factor putting our program on the map.

“I think the Blaze coaches were extremely impressed with his play at their spring tryouts and he completely shined in our scrimmage against the Blaze during the regular season. We are extremely proud of Connor – not only in representing our school and conference, but the MCLA as a whole. We know that he will do great things with whatever opportunity he is given with the Atlanta Blaze.”
