ATLANTA – Defending national champion Grand Canyon has retained its preseason station as the top team in the Under Armour MCLA Division I Coaches Poll, but the lead is shrinking.
The Lopes (0-0) grabbed 18 first place votes, but No. 2 Chapman (1-0) accounted for three top votes while No. 3 Utah (3-0) hauled in five. The differential between the top spot and third is just 47 points.
Brigham Young (1-0) and Arizona State (2-0) round out the Top 5.
Oregon State, Texas, Sonoma State and Southern Methodist were bumped from the preseason poll, replaced by No. 15 South Carolina, No. 19 Concordia-Irvine, No. 23 Texas A&M and No. 25 Arizona.
