SAN MARCOS, Texas -- The Texas State men’s lacrosse program is excited to announce that alumnus Greg Kremen has been named head coach for the remainder of the 2018 season and beyond.

Kremen replaces Stephen Torkington, who coached the Bobcats in 2017 and the start of this season.

Kremen comes to San Marcos after serving as the defensive coordinator for the Dripping Springs (Texas) High School varsity program.

During his time with the Tigers, he was tasked with overseeing player development, defensive game-planning and communicating all defensive strategies -- both during games and at practices.

Kremen’s passion for the game and leadership experience are two of many qualities that stood out to the program during the selection process. His dedication to individual player development and leadership cultivation will help the players reach both their individual and team goals for the 2018 season.

Kremen has been a student of the game as both a coach and a player for well over a decade and has earned All-American, Defensive Player of The Year, and Rookie of the Year honors during his lacrosse career.

In addition to being a standout on the field, it’s what Kremen has been able to do off of the field that has molded him into the leader he is today. He has reached the rank of Eagle Scout and has been named captain by his peers on many of the teams he has played for.

In his first few weeks at the helm, Kremen has already begun implementing new team requirements such as mandatory team study hall and film review outside of practice to promote a stronger team culture and identity.

The players have bought in to Kremen’s mentality of service leadership and coaching style, and are excited to move the program forward over the remainder of the 2018 season and beyond.
