SJU's Almquist Has Command Performance

March 13th, 2018 General News | FGCU | Minn-Duluth | Northern Arizona | San Diego | St. Johns | St. Thomas | Cal State San Marcos

ATLANTA – St. John’s won four games in three days at Music City Judgement over the weekend thanks to the play of sophomore midfielder Boone Almquist, who earned MCLA Division II Commanding of Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending March 11.

Almquist impacted the weekend, which included victories over three ranked teams, in numerous ways for the Johnnies.

In the four games, the Maple Grove, Minn., product combined for 10 goals and four assists out of the midfielder. This was highlighted by a five goal, two assist performance against No. 23 Central Conn. State.

In addition to his work on the offensive end, Almquist won 16-of-24 attempts (66.7 winning percentage) while also scooping up nine ground balls.

"The addition of Boone has provided depth offensively, defensively and at the X," said St. John's coach Derek Daehn. "He is always looking to do whatever it takes to get the W. This is a well deserved honor for Boone."

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Almquist will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.
