PCLL-II Ready for Postseason

April 24th, 2018 General News | Bridgewater | Central Connecticut | New Haven | Stonehill | Westfield State | WPI

BOSTON – The top six teams in Division II of the Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League (PCLL) are ready to crown a champion when the event begins on Wednesday at home sites followed by the semifinals and finals this weekend at the Dexter Southfield School in Brookline, Mass.

Central Conn. State out of the South and Bridgewater State in the North received the top seeds and will get a bye into Saturday’s semifinals.

2018 PCLL DIVISION II TOURNAMENT BRACKET

At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, No. 3S Westfield State will visit No. 2S New Haven. It’s a rematch of a 17-13 shootout won by New Haven on March 24. The winner draws Bridgewater State in the semis.

At 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, No. 2N WPI entertains No. 3N Stonehill for the right to play Central Conn. State in the semifinals. This is a rematch of a game played on Sunday and won by WPI, 12-6.

While the PCLL will crown a Division II champion after this tournament, the regular season champion is awarded the automatic bid to the 2018 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour. Central Conn. State has already wrapped that up.

“There may not be an automatic qualifier on the line, but there are six proud programs who desperately want to lift the trophy on Sunday,” said PCLL director Daniel Morris. “This should be a fantastic tourney.”

Admission to the first round games is at the discretion of the hosting institutions. The semifinals and finals at Dexter Southfield will be free of charge. Youth and high school players are encouraged to attend.
