ATLANTA – After leading No. 4 South Carolina to a 3-0 week, Gamecocks’ junior attackman Addison Lutes has earned MCLA Division I Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending April 8.

Lutes opened the week with a goal and a dime in the Gamecocks’ 10-7 victory over George Washington. The Weston, Fla., product also grabbed a pair of ground balls.

Saturday brought Southern Carolina’s showdown with No. 10 Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Thanks to a pair of fourth-quarter goals from Lutes that helped the Gamecocks rebound from a 6-0 first-half deficit, USC posted an 11-10 triumph.

The weekend was capped off by a 14-4 victory over Pitt in which Lutes pocketed a goal and two assists.

“Addy caught fire in crunch time against Virginia Tech, scoring both to tie the score and to take our first lead of the game in the fourth quarter,” said South Carolina coach James Harkey. “He's a shifty dodger; very difficult to cover one-on-one, and has a great nose for the goal.

“As we typically rotate six or seven guys at attack each game, none of our attackmen get the number of touches that they'd probably like. Addy is a guy who never complains about playing time. He just goes to work and makes the most of his opportunities. He did a great job of that this weekend to help us stay undefeated.”

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Lutes will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.

Under Armour Honor Roll

Conrad McEvoy, Soph. – Georgia Tech
The Yellow Jackets clinched an SELC tourney berth with a sweep of Alabama and Auburn. McEvoy dropped three goals and two assists on both.

Kevin McMahon, Sr. – San Diego State
The lock-down pole not only held MCLA leading scorer Quinn Eisler (UNLV) to two goals, but also delivered the game-tying goal that allowed the Aztecs to prevail in overtime.

Luke Miller, Sr. – Santa Clara
With Santa Clara edging ever-closer to its first postseason berth in a decade, Miller turned away a dozen shots, helping the Broncos edge two-time WCLL champ, 6-5.

Collin Mitchell, Sr. – Central Michigan
In a 1-1 weekend, the attackman scored six goals along with two assists against West Virginia before posting another four goals against App. State.
