COI’s Guzzetti Has Command Performance

COI’s Guzzetti Has Command Performance

May 1st, 2018 General News | Fullerton | College of Idaho | New Haven | Sierra Nevada

ATLANTA – After leading the College of Idaho to the PNCLL championship and its first trip to nationals, Yotes senior attackman Nich Guzzetti earned MCLA Division II Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour for the period ending April 29.

In the tournament opener against Portland, the Meridian, Idaho, product buried five goals and set up four others as COI torched the Pilots, 23-7.

The following day in the championship game against Montana – the same Grizzlies team that dispatched the Yotes in the ’17 title tilt – Guzzetti notched a hat trick, with the third score being the decisive goal in overtime, giving COI the 11-10 victory.

“Nich is our speaking captain and his energy feeds the team,” said College of Idaho coach Matt Gier. “He is also a student of the game and is always working on improving on and off the field.

“His biggest improvement has been his field vision. He always has the opposing team’s top defender and draws a quick double- and triple-team, and he has used this to his advantage and has tripled his assists from last season. Nich is our field general and has played a huge role in the success of our program.”

For his efforts in earning the Commanding Performance of the Week powered by Under Armour, Guzzetti will receive a new Under Armour Command Head – a $100 value. Under Armour is the proud sponsor of the MCLA.
