Curran Added to Mo. State Staff

August 27th, 2018 General News | Mo. State

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Missouri State men's lacrosse program is pleased to announce the hiring of Donnie Curran as assistant coach for the 2018-19 season.

Curran joins the Bears' staff after an outstaning tenure as the head coach of the Republic (Mo.) High School lacrosse program.

In the five years prior to Curran, Republic had an overall record of 3-64. In five seasons with Curran at the helm, the Tigers won 48 games, qualified for the Heartland League postseason all five seasons and made it to the state championship game in 2017, losing by a goal.

Curran was nominated as Coach of the Year four times, and was awarded the honor in 2017.

"I'm really excited to bring Donnie on board with us," said Missouri State coach Dustin Rich. "I've had the opportunity to talk lacrosse with Donnie for as long as he's been coaching at the high school level and I knew he was a perfect fit. He's a student of the game, and has a way of building positive culture that will help our team continue to grow. He's a high character guy, and his players will tell you that. This isn't just a good hire for our staff -- Donnie is the perfect guy for the job. We're pumped."

Curran's passion for his players and love of the game has been reflected in the character and performance of his players, both on and off the field. Republic produced 13 different all-conference players under his direction.

He was also recognized by the Republic Community Foundation as a community leader in 2017 for his efforts with Republic lacrosse.

Curran and his wife Michele have been together for 24 years and have raised two sons who both currently attend Missouri State.
