Southern Conn. Names New Coach

August 1st, 2018 General News | Southern Conn.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Southern Connecticut State University men's lacrosse program is excited to announce Casey Trasacco as its new head coach.

Trasacco, a former player with the Owls, steps in for Anthony LoRicco, who retired after the 2018 season.

LoRicco took the Owls to their first ever conference championship appearance in 2016, was named Coach of the Year that same season, and under his tutelage had several all-conference players and four players recognized as MCLA All-Americans: 2015 PCLL Defensive player of the year Joseph Tiden, 2014 PCLL Rookie of the Year William Ring, the schools career points leader Tyler Violano, and his son, Robert LoRicco.

Trasacco is a 2014 graduate of Southern Connecticut and a 2010 graduate of Hyde Leadership Academy. While at Hyde, Casey played for the Wilbur Cross High School lacrosse team and set several records for points and goals in a season. In 2010, he was the named the Governors player of the year by MaxPreps.

Trasacco spent the last five years serving as the top assistant at Wilbur Cross, and is also an assistant coach on the Southern football team, responsible for quality control and assisting the wide receivers.

Joining Trasacco will be his father, Alex. who has spent time as the head coach at Wilbur Cross as well as assisting at Cheshire Academy. Alex is also an alumni of Southern Connecticut and was a member of the football and lacrosse teams.

Southern plans to have a robust coaching staff for the program and the remaining assistant coaches are still to be determined.
