Gamecocks Unearth Meaty Sked

September 4th, 2018 General News | South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Fresh off its first-ever visit to the semifinals of the MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, South Carolina has amassed a strong schedule that should keep the Gamecocks in the hunt for another trip to Salt Lake City in May.

The Gamecocks will face a 15-game regular season slate featuring five teams that qualified for nationals -- highlighted by an April 7 tilt against defending national champion Michigan State in Nashville -- and nine teams that finished in the final Under Armour Top 25 poll.

"I'm excited to get out on the field and compete," said South Carolina coach James Harkey. "We have a hungry group coming back who are eager to replicate what we did a year ago and more. We're thrilled with the opportunity to take our squad to the West Coast for spring break. Big thanks to Chapman and UCSB for hosting us. Road trips like that are a great way to build chemistry as a group and the chance to travel and see new places are a fundamental part of the student-athlete experience."

South Carolina will be looking to build on the best season in program history in 2018 when it posted an 18-2 record including a trip to the SELC finals and national semifinals.
