Chapman’s Hartley to Join Coaches Corner

Chapman’s Hartley to Join Coaches Corner

November 15th, 2018 General News | Chapman

ORANGE, Calif. – After a successful debut of the new “Coaches Corner” with Montana State coach Chris Kelley, the program is following up with Chapman coach Dallas Hartley as the next participant.

The live call-in portion of Hartley’s Coaches Corner discussion will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. PST (9 p.m. EST). A recorded version of the event will be available after the fact on MCLA.us.

For those coaches who want to participate live in the presentation and the ensuing Q&A session, they should call (605) 472-5298 and use the PIN 374259.

The Coaches Corner series was devised as a way to help new coaches assimilate to the MCLA while also aiding experienced coaches in honing their craft by featuring some of the most accomplished coaches in the association.

After a successful prep coaching career at La Costa Canyon (Carlsbad, Calif.) High School, Hartley has been the coach at Chapman since 2011. He has posted a 126-33 career record, including a perfect 41-0 mark in conference play.

Under Hartley’s tutelage, the Panthers have played in the last three national championship games, winning the whole thing in 2016.

“When I was a younger coach – and even now – I’ve always tried to learn as much as I can from other coaches,” said Hartley. “The opportunity to pass along what knowledge I have to others is exciting. I look forward to it.”

While he’ll tackle any questions, Hartley will open the discussion about his three key ingredients to getting players to buy into an MCLA program despite the many distractions that college life presents.

The Coaches Corner was created in response to requests by the MCLA membership to have a platform for coaches to hold roundtable discussions that tackled many of the issues facing non-varsity coaches.

“Few coaches have had the kind of sustained excellence that Dallas has had at Chapman over the past five years,” said MCLA president Ken Lovic. “He has the experience and knowledge that we can all learn from.”
