Arizona’s Hill Earns Goalie of Week

Arizona’s Hill Earns Goalie of Week

March 12th, 2019 General News | Arizona | Indiana | New Hampshire

ATLANTA – For the second time during this young season, Arizona sophomore netminder Wyatt Hill has been named Pearl’s Goalie of the Week, this time for the period ending March 10.

The Wildcats took on No. 4 and defending national champion Michigan State on Wednesday look for a statement win and, thanks to Hill, they got one.

Hill made a career-high 30 saves as Arizona topped the Spartans, 11-10, in San Diego.

For the season, Hill has posted a 5-2 record with a 66.7 save percentage.

"Not only did Wyatt have an astonishing number of saves, but the fashion in which he made them was unbelievable,” said Arizona coach Matt Blamey. “You need a goalie who will make a few that he isn't supposed too, but you never expect it to happen over and over again in the same game.

“We are blessed to have a playmaker of Wyatt's caliber on the back-line and it has been impressive watching him mature this season. He has grown from an aloof freshman thrust into a starting role, into a sophomore who was voted captain by his peers this spring. Wyatt has learned to channel his emotional play into improving his game and elevating the play of those around him."

For his efforts in earning the Pearl’s Performance of the Week, Hill will receive a prize package from Guardian Pearl, a ball that lasts longer than the rest and never greases. Guardian Pearl is the proud partner of the MCLA.

Guardian Pear Honor Roll

Sean Clifton, Soph. – Indiana
In the Hoosiers first-ever win over Davenport, Clifton made 11 saves (61.1 sv%) in a 13-7 victory over the Panthers.

John Leach, Soph. – New Hampshire
The Wildcats opened up their season at Elon and Leach was solid between the pipes, allowing just two goals while stopping 13 shots (86.7 sv%).
