SLC Unveils Division I Field

SAN DIEGO – Chapman and Arizona State have earned the top seed in their respective subdivision, earning byes into the semifinals of the 2019 Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) Division tournament, which begins this weekend with first round action.

In one first round contest, Southern Cal (8-6, 2-3 SLC), the third seed out of the North division, will square off with North second seed Concordia-Irvine (11-3, 4-1) on Saturday, April 20 at 12 p.m. The Eagles beat the Trojans, 8-6, in the regular season meeting.

2019 SLC DIVISION I TOURNAMENT BRACKET

The winner will faceoff with the Sun Devils at La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad, Calif., on Friday, April 26 at 4 p.m.

The other first round contest features two South division programs. Third-seeded Grand Canyon (4-7, 1-2) travels to Tucson to square off with second-seeded Arizona (8-3, 2-0) on Saturday, April 20 at 1 p.m. The Wildcats downed the Lopes, 10-3 earlier this season.

The team that advances will meet Chapman on Friday, April 26 at 6:45 p.m. at La Costa Canyon. The championship game will be on Sunday, April 28 at 1:45 p.m. with the winner earning at automatic qualifying berth to the 2019 MCLA National Championships powered by Under Armour, which will take place from May 6-11 in Salt Lake City.

“This is always a special time of year,” said SLC director Matt Holman. “We’ve got six teams with championship expectations giving everything for that trophy. It’s going to be great lacrosse.”

Admission to first round games is at the discretion of the home sites. Admission to the semifinals and finals is $5 per person. Tickets are ON SALE NOW.

First Round – April 20 (at home sites)
GAME 1: #3N USC at #2N Concordia-Irvine, 12 p.m.
GAME 2: #3S Grand Canyon at #2S Arizona, 1:00pm

Semifinals – April 26 (La Costa Canyon H.S.)
GAME 1 winner vs. #1S Arizona State, 4 p.m.
GAME 2 winner vs. #1N Chapman, 6:45 p.m.

Finals – April 28 (La Costa Canyon H.S.)
Semifinal winners, 1:45 p.m.
