St. Thomas Tabs King as Head Coach

St. Thomas Tabs King as Head Coach

August 29th, 2019 General News | St. Thomas

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Thomas men's lacrosse program has announced that Jason King will be its new coach starting with the 2020 campaign.

King replaces Brian Gross, who stepped down at the conclusion of the 2019 season to spend more time with his family.

"I am excited and honored to be the next head coach at the University of St. Thomas and very thankful to the Tommie lacrosse family for putting faith in me," King said. "I will do my best to continue to foster the culture that was built by Coach Gross. I am very lucky that a large core of our coaching staff is returning for the upcoming season and we are excited to get to work this fall."

King has been on the Tommies staff since 2015 as the offensive coordinator, helping St. Thomas record a 71-12 record over that time and win a pair of MCLA Division II championships.

From 2010-16, King was the offensive coordinator for the Mahtomedi (Minn.) High School lacrosse program.

King played his collegiate lacrosse at St. Thomas, where was the captain of the 2009 and 2010 edition of the Tommies that won the first two national championships for the program.
