Stanton Hired at Boston College

September 25th, 2019 General News | Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men’s lacrosse program is pleased to announce the hiring of Patrick Stanton as its new head coach beginning with the 2020 season.

Stanton joins the Eagles after serving as the defensive coordinator for Cal Poly last spring, helping the Mustangs advance to the 2019 MCLA National Championships sponsored by New Balance.

“Boston College has a long history of excellence in lacrosse and I am extremely honored and excited to be part of this program,” Stanton said. “This team is filled with talented and dedicated student-athletes at every position. I know we have what it takes to build upon this strong program and bring it to the next level going forward.”

Prior to joining Cal Poly, Stanton was a member of the United States Air Force from 2012-18. Based in both Japan and California, Stanton was a flight commander for the 18 Munitions Squadron and the 576 Flight Test Squadron.

A 2012 graduate of Northeastern University, Stanton earned a BS in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology. He played goalie for the Huskies men’s lacrosse team in 2011 after a prep career at the St. Sebastian’s (Mass.) School.

“We are really excited to welcome Pat into our program,” said team vice president Ian Hunter. “We believe his experiences both as a coach and player are the perfect fit for our team. So far he has fit in well with the team at practice and we are all really looking forward to the season ahead of us.”

Boston College is coming off an 8-5 season and a quarterfinal exit from the CLC Division I tournament. The Eagles have qualified 11 times for nationals, most recently in 2018 after winning the conference championship.
