Arizona Releases Fall Schedule

August 9th, 2021 General News | Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. -- The University of Arizona men's lacrosse has announced a competitive 2021 fall schedule that includes seven competition dates, culminating with the return of the program's alumni game during homecoming weekend.

The Wildcats begin fall ball on Saturday, Sept. 18 with the annual Red Blue intersquad game. This event will be held in conjunction with Arizona's Prospect Weekend held for current high school juniors and seniors interested in attending the UofA.

Next up the Wildcats travel to Texas on Sept. 25 for a neutral site contest in El Paso against the Red Raiders from Texas Tech. Prior to the scrimmage, Arizona players and coaches will host a free clinic for local El Paso youth and high school athletes.

After returning to Tucson, the squad then gets ready for an aggressive string of contests in October.

Arizona will travel to Las Vegas for a fall matchup with Utah Valley on Oct. 16. The following weekend, the Wildcats then head to California for a doubleheader weekend against UC Santa Barbara and perennial MCLA power Cal Poly.

To round out fall ball, all four MCLA programs in the state of Arizona will convene at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix for a round-robin play day on Oct. 30. Teams competing include the Arizona, Arizona State, Grand Canyon and Northern Arizona.

"After two seasons filled with unprecedented challenges, our team leadership has made it clear that they are ready take the next step and be put to the test this year," said Arizona coach Matt Blamey. "We have constructed the most aggressive fall program I've seen in my five years as a Wildcat. Everyone involved knows that this can be a banner year for the program. We want to make sure that our guys are battle-tested before the spring season commences."
