Division I Poll: Here Comes Berkeley

ATLANTA – Brigham Young has managed to keep its preseason hold on the top spot in Week 1 of the New Balance MCLA Division I Coaches Poll, but the gap has narrowed significantly.

The Cougars still have the majority of first-place votes (15, down from 18 in the preseason), but instead of leading Georgia Tech by 37 points, they hold just a 14-point edge over No. 2 Cal now.

The Golden Bears, jumped in the second spot bolstered by nine first-place votes. They are followed by the Rambling Wreck, who snagged the final three top votes.

Liberty remains at No. 4, now have Boston College behind them in fifth. The Eagles jumped up seven spots from their preseason ranking.

Florida was a big mover this week, as well, jumping from No. 21 to No. 9 after the Gators 4-0 start. Colorado State's was close by as they Rams went from No. 22 to No. 12. Georgia went from unranked to No. 13.
