SELC D-II Players of the Week

SELC D-II Players of the Week

March 30th, 2022 General News | FAU

(from an SELC press release)

The SELC Division II Players of the Week for games played March 21 - 27:

Offensive Player of the Week

Kyle Romano, Florida Atlantic - Senior, Attack
In back-to-back games against Elon and Appalachian State, Romano posted 10 points (4g, 6a) versus Elon and nine points (6g, 4a) versus App State, helping FAU earn a sweep in a critical out of conference weekend.

“Kyle is an integral part of our team," said FAU coach Stavros Neocleous. "He is a proven scorer in the MCLA and has only improved throughout his time in the league. His performance this past week is just another example of how dominant he can be, both as a shooter and a passer.”

Defensive Player of the Week

Nicholas Meola, Florida Atlantic - Sophomore, Goalie
Meloa posted 23 saves and a 71.9 save percentage versus Elon, backstopping FAU to an 18-9 victory. The next morning, Meola held App State to seven goals with 13 saves and a 65 save percentage in a 12-7 win.

“Nicholas has stepped into a huge roll for FAU and has done a great job backstopping the team," said Neocleous. "He is able to kill momentum on the defensive side, and spark transition offence with his outlet passes. He is a great leader and an exceptional player.”
