February 21st, 2023 General News | Arizona | Cal Poly | California | Chapman | Clemson | Florida | SMU | Temple | Utah | Georgia | Virginia Tech

ATLANTA – Chapman traveled to Minneapolis for a pair of ranked games and came away with a two victories thanks to Panther graduate student George McGuirk, who is the MCLA Division I Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 19.

Chapman opened the weekend on Friday night with a matchup against the hosts, No. 8 Minnesota. Bolstered by five goals and seven assists from the Madison, Conn., attackman, the Panthers rolled to a 24-2 victory.

On Saturday, Chapman squared up with No. 16 Northeastern and again McGuirk was the catalyst in a Panther triumph. He buried a hat trick as Chapman finished the 2-0 weekend with a 10-7 victory over the Huskies.

McGuirk took eight goals and seven dimes back to Orange with him.

“George's performance this week really set the tone early for our team during our tough, quick-turnaround trip to Minnesota versus two formidable opponents,” said Chapman coach Joel Kallas.

“His knowledge, skill and leadership have been great for us this season, and his versatility makes him a player who is dangerous in many facets of the game.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, McGuirk will receive a Warrior EVO QX-O – a $100 value – for his efforts. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
