ATLANTA – After leading No. 7 Concordia to an upset of No. 3 Brigham Young on Saturday, Golden Eagles senior midfielder Brett Masaki has earned MCLA Division I Warrior Player of the Week honors for the period ending Feb. 12.

Concordia had a daunting task ahead of it with the Cougars – a national semifinalist a year ago – coming to town for the season opener. Thanks to a hat trick and an assist from the Poway, Calif., product, the Eagles stunned BYU, 18-10.

“Brett is a senior captain for us,” said Concordia coach Jesse Foss. “You can tell every time he steps on the field for practice and games that he is making the most of every minute he has out there.

“He is a returning starter and proven scorer and this game was a great way to start his senior season.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Masaki will receive a Warrior EVO QX-O – a $100 value – for his efforts. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
