Charlotte’s Moxim Earns Warrior Award

Charlotte’s Moxim Earns Warrior Award

April 18th, 2023 General News | Coastal Carolina | GVSU | San Jose State | St. Thomas | UNC-Charlotte

ATLANTA – After leading UNC-Charlotte to a critical ranked conference victory, 49ers sophomore attackman Blake Moxim is the MCLA Division II Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending April 16.

Squaring off with ALC North subdivisional rival and No. 10 Wake Forest, the Hopedale, Mass., product delivered for Charlotte.

Trailing the Demon Deacons heading into the fourth quarter, Moxim struck for a hat trick, including the game-tying goal and the game-winner with two minutes left, to give the 11th-ranked Niners the 11-10 triumph.

Earlier in the contest, Moxim had doled a pair of assists for the five-point day. He also grabbed a pair of ground balls and was critical in the clearing game.

“In the win against Wake Forest, Blake was the driving force behind a fourth-quarter comeback,” said UNC-Charlotte coach Nick Nedvesky. “Blake is one of those irreplaceable players who is any coach’s dream.

“From practice, games, to off the field stuff, Blake is never giving less than 100 percent. Even though he leads the conference in points, goals and assists, you would never know it by talking with him. His mindset has elevated everyone around him, including teammates and coaches. We are all excited to continue to see his growth at Charlotte.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Moxim will receive a Warrior EVO QX-O – a $100 value – for his efforts. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
