ATLANTA – After leading Texas to a 3-0 trip to NorCal, including a pair of ranked victories, Longhorn senior midfielder Sterling Hupp is the MCLA Division I Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending March 10.

The Longhorns started their trip on Thursday with a visit to Stanford and the Lakeway, Texas, native was sharp from the get go, finishing with two goals and three assists in the comfy win.

Texas capped off the weekend on Sunday against No. 13 Cal with another hat trick along with two helpers in the 19-16 shootout.

For the weekend, Hupp amassed nine goals and six assists against premium competition on the road.

“Sterling is a matchup nightmare for any defenseman and unit in the country,” said Texas coach Kyle Hartzel. “His ability to create for himself draws the attention of defenses and opens up all of his teammates around him. He has great vision and really does it all for us.

“What I am most impressed about is how relentless he is on our ride and attacking loose balls. He really is the complete package and has emerged this year as one of the best players in the country. He is a huge part of who we are and how we play.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Hupp will receive a Warrior Burn XP2-O – a $120 value. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
