BYU’s Mason Named Warrior POW

April 30th, 2024 General News | BYU | Chapman | Liberty | Northeastern | Texas

ATLANTA – After leading Brigham Young to the RMLC Division I championship over the weekend, Cougars senior defenseman Taylor Mason has been named the Warrior Player of the Week for the period ending April 28.

On Saturday, the Cougars squared off with long-time nemesis Colorado State and again Mason was stellar. The BYU defense shutdown the Rams, led by another two caused turnovers and five ground balls from Mason in the 24-4 win. He also chipped in with two more end-to-end goals.

“Taylor Mason has been leading our team since he stepped on campus,” said Brigham Young coach Matt Schneck. “It's part of his DNA. He works hard on and off the field, leads by example in the weightroom and the classroom and is loved by his teammates.

“And who doesn't get fired up when a long pole comes down the field and rips one past the goalie. In addition to being a scoring threat as a long pole, he is one of the smartest defensemen we have had at BYU that truly understands the game and epitomizes lacrosse IQ.”

For his efforts earning the Warrior Player of the Week, Mason will receive a Warrior Burn XP2-D – a $120 value. Warrior is a proud sponsor of the MCLA.
