ATLANTA – After backstopping Cal State San Marcos to a crucial conference victory, Cougar sophomore netminder Andrew Vigil has been named the MCLA Division II PEARL Goalie of the Week for the period ending April 14.

Squaring off with No. 13 UC San Diego with the top seed in the upcoming SLC tournament on the line, the Temecula, Calif., product was up to the task.

Vigil made 17 saves, allowing the Cougars to post the 13-11 victory. He recorded a 60.7 save percentage in the triumph.

"Andrew Vigil showcased his remarkable skills last weekend against UCSD,” said Cal State San Marcos coach Wyatt Ehrhardt. “With an impressive 17 saves, Andrew not only displayed his agility and precision, but also played a pivotal leadership role in securing our team's position at the top of the SLC standings.

“His exceptional performance not only safeguarded our first-place position, but also provided momentum leading into regionals. Our coaching staff is incredibly proud of Andrew and his confidence to rise to the occasion.”

As the recipient of the PEARL Goalie of the Week honor, Vigil will receive a PEARL swag bag of goodies that will include PEARL lacrosse balls – the official ball of the MCLA.
