Marc Paolini Named UConn Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach

July 20th, 2024 General News | Connecticut

Storrs, Connecticut - Marc Paolini has been named Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach at the University of Connecticut, the program announced this past Friday. Paolini, who played a role in both of UConn’s previous MCLA National Championship appearances (2015, 2019) returns to Storrs for his second stint as Head Coach.

“I couldn’t be happier returning to UConn Men’s Lacrosse.” said Paolini. “I have a great amount of loyalty to this program, my best experiences as a coach happened at UConn, and with this current group of players I plan on making many more. We had a high standard of performance for this team and we were building upon it. The goal is to get this program back where it belongs.”

From 2016-2020, as Head Coach, Marc's Husky squads went 39-17. His teams produced two MCLA All-Americans, nine First Team All-Conference players, one conference Defensive Player of the Year, and in 2017 Paolini was named conference Coach of the Year.

During the 2013-2015 seasons, Paolini was an Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator under Head Coach Paul Scordato. The team went 25-15 and produced 3 MCLA All-Americans, one conference championship, six First Team All-Conference players, a conference Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year.

“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Paolini back to our program,” said team President Chris Lanzarone. “His previous tenure brought us remarkable success, and his dedication and passion for UConn Lacrosse are unmatched. We're excited to see the positive impact he will have on our current roster, and we are confident that he will guide us back to the heights we once reached. The future of UConn Men's Lacrosse looks brighter than ever with Coach Paolini back leading the way.”

Since leaving UConn, Paolini spent time as an assistant coach at his alma mater Daniel Hand High School, where he helped guide the Tigers to their first state championship in program history.

Coach Paolini currently resides in Madison, CT with his wife Mandi and son Pierce.
